Things to do in Lucea
Lucea has a vast range of attractions and sights alongside its pristine beaches. You’ll find lots of sightseeing opportunities, with the Old Lucea Courthouse, the old barracks, and the Lucea Parish Church being just a few of the best sights to explore.
Watersports are also offered in abundance here, with the opportunity to try out windsurfing, sailing and kayaking. You can also delve into the world below by snorkeling or diving in the area’s crystal-clear waters.
Head slightly out of Lucea and you’ll be able to visit the Hanover Museum, featuring artifacts from the pirate history of the area. You could also pay a visit to the famous Dunn’s River Falls, or the nearby Black River.
Beaches in Lucea
As Lucea is so close to Negril and Montego Bay, you’ll have access to a wide range of beautiful beaches. It’s worth taking a trip to Negril in particular, with its almost seven-mile-long beach. The beach also has a lot of family-friendly entertainment on offer, along with a lively bar scene. You could even take a trip to the beautiful Dolphin Cove from here.
If you’re looking for a more peaceful beach, the Half Moon Beach in Negril is the one to visit. Here, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to try the freshly caught lobster. You can also take a boat tour to a tiny island just a short distance away, which offers refreshments and watersports.
In Montego Bay, Doctor’s Cave Beach is a popular one. Centrally located, the beach is easy to access and boasts a range of great facilities. You can enjoy snorkeling in the sea, indulge in delicious food, or simply lay back and soak up the sun. This beach can get pretty crowded, so it’s worth heading here early.
The Puerto Seco Beach is another great option in Montego Bay. It boasts a great water obstacle course, alongside boat trip excursions and great onsite facilities. If you do head here, you won’t be able to take your own food as it's sold onsite.
